Tai Chi: Ancient Exercise in Today’s Rehab Setting

About the Presentation: The objective of this presentation is to present an alternative form of exercise used in the neurorehabilitation setting. The clinician will gain an understanding of how this program was developed and how it can be implemented in other clinical settings. Through analysis of the various Tai Chi movement patterns, the audience will leave with a general knowledge of six basic movement patterns, which can be immediately implemented into a patient treatment plan. About the Presenter:
Patty Briody joined the Center for Transitional Neurorehabilitation team in 1998. She is passionate about treating individuals with traumatic and acquired brain injuries in this holistic setting. As a Physical Therapist, Patty has seen the exceptional value of integrating tai chi and yoga into her practice. She is also certified in Aquatic Therapy through the American Physical Therapy Association. She is originally from Chicago and attended the University of Arizona, Northern Arizona University, and most recently, the University of Montana, earning a Doctorate of Physical Therapy. |
